Ferris State University Professional Golf Management (PGM) Program
The Professional Golf Management™ (PGM) program is designed for the individual who is interested in a career as a golf professional who serves the amateur golfer. Established in 1975, the PGM program at Ferris State University was the first of its kind in the nation sanctioned by the prestigious Professional Golfers' Association of America (PGA). Our academic program prepares graduates for careers as Class A PGA Professionals who meet the demands of the golf industry.
Professional Golf Management undergraduate degree students complete a B.S. in Business with a major in marketing. Integrated into the four-and-one-half year curriculum is approximately 16 months of paid co-op/on-the-job-training. From the program's large database, students can choose from hundreds of participating golf courses across the country at the coordinator's discretion.
Ferris State college students begin the PGM/Professional Golf Management™ program in their freshman year and must complete the Level 1, 2, and 3 checkpoints to graduate. Professional Golf Management undergraduate students must also pass a Playing Ability Test (PAT) to graduate from the Ferris State University PGM program.
